Two people were found Monday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. at a residence located at 213 North Douglas Street in West Frankfort.
Police and other officials were still on the scene near the corner of Douglas and St. Louis Streets, adjacent to the residence, as of 6 p.m.
West Frankfort Chief of Police Jeff Tharp reported both victims were women, and two suspects, Michael "Mexican Mike" Schallert and a female acquaintance, Afton Ferris, are currently being sought in what authorities are investigating as a double homicide.
Police are also asking locals to be on the lookout for a tan, 2003 4-door Chevrolet Impala, in which the two might be traveling. License plate number: G893639. Anyone with any information regarding the two persons of interest or the location of the vehicle is asked to contact the WFPD at 937-3502.
