Illinois State Police now say that the more than two tons of marijuana they intercepted this week would be worth almost $20 million on the street.
Capt. Stuart Shaver puts the estimated value of the 4,400 pounds of marijuana found Monday in the back of a semi on Interstate 57 near Tuscola at $19.9 million. Tuscola is about 30 miles south of Champaign.
Shaver says the marijuana was found tucked into boxes labeled cabbage.
Douglas County State’s Attorney Kevin Nolan says the three Livingston, Calif., men who were in the truck haven’t been charged. He expects that to happen early next week.
