Developmental screenings of birth to 5-year-old children are being offered.

The screenings are free to participating children and their families and will identify eligible children for enrollment into free local early childhood programs.

Screenings are possible through the cooperative efforts of the Franklin County Schools, The H Group Early-On and Early Head Start programs, BCMW Head Start, John A. Logan and Rend Lake College Adult Education and Literacy programs, Rascal X-press Child Care Center, Franklin-Jefferson County Special Education and Southern Region Early Childhood Programs.

The screenings will examine each child's speech, language, social and motor skill development. Vision and hearing examinations will also be performed. Parents will be given a verbal explanation and written information of their child's results and opportunities to learn about free early childhood programs in their communities.
