WEST FRANKFORT — The Frankfort Community High school varsity golf team played host to the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats on the links at the Franklin County Country Club Wednesday afternoon.
West Frankfort shot well, but came up short 170-163. The Birds' overall record this season is dipped to 2-2.  West Frankfort had two co-medalists. Jordan Willams and Sean Jackanicz both shot a 1-over par 37.
"This is the first time in all my years of coaching when we had two medalists in the same match and lost," commented West  Frankfort head coach Mike Karoski.
"Jordan (Williams) and Sean (Jackanicz) have been playing fantastic lately and we just need to get those guys some help so we can be competitive," added Karoski.
Chaz Ligon shot a 44. Nolan Jordan and Cody Steely both chipped in a 52. Brad Bosick finished with a 54.
"We are a young team, but a few of our guys need to step up," said Karoski.
"We need to find someone to help out the upper-classmen." The Redbird golfers will be in action again tonight when they match up with the Carmi Bulldogs. The match will begin at 4 p.m. at the Franklin County Country Club.
