On Thursday, June 18 the West Frankfort Youth Football Association is sponsoring the 2nd annual Southern Illinois Football Camp.
This camp is for high school students grades 9-12. The camp will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
The camp is being conducted by the Southern Illinois University football coaching staff.
If a student/athlete decides to participate they will receive hands on training with Division 1 football coaches.
"It's a real thrill to have the coaches from SIU come to our camp," commented West Frankfort head football coach Chad Spence.
"It's a great learning experience for these young men."
Linemen will be expected to be padded during the camp, this includes their own helmet and shoulder pads.
"This camp is open to any high school football player in Southern Illinois," explained Spence.
"We had a good mix of kids from different communities last year, hopefully this year will be the same."
The cost for the camp is $35 and the participant will receive lunch and a t-shirt.
