Mustang League
On May, 29, Simple Solutions came out on top 11-1 against 1st Bank in girls' Mustang League Softball. Jacklynn Calvert led the way for Simple Solutions with two hits, including a homerun. Calvert also shared pitching duties with Rheanne Lucas. Molly Short and Hannah Cunningham were the top hitters for 1st Bank with a triple and a double, respectively. Simple Solutions Coach Jack Calvert applauded the great defensive play of his team.
On June 1, Simple Solutions traveled to Benton to take on Richard Foulk Accounting. Simple Solutions won by a final tally of 20-4. Simple Solutions was led by Lily Hernandez who hit a shot to left center field for a base clearing triple. Jacklynn Calvert, Rheanne Lucas, and Kourtney McDaniel combined to toss a one-hitter for the victorious visitors.
On June 6, Simple Solutions moved to 3-0 on the year with a victory against SI Bank. Jacklynn Calvert homered, while Daisy Watkins and Madison Henson each tripled in the win. Olivia Kerley and Sarah Aldridge hit a double and a triple, respectively, for SI Bank.
Mustang League Honors
In Mustang League Honors Action, on May, 31, West Frankfort traveled north to Mt. Vernon and brought home wins in both games of a doubleheader. In game one, a tight strike zone led to many WF runs and an impressive 23-6 final score. Stephanie Tucker led the offense with two hits, including a double. Sarah Aldridge was the winning pitcher for WF.
In the nightcap, West Frankfort exuded team play by pushing all 13 players around to score. WF Coach Jack Calvert praised his team's balanced scoring attack in the 24-7 victory. Jacklynn Calvert and Kailei Broy split the pitching job in the win.
On June 7, WF Mustang Honors Softball headed to Carterville for more double-dip action. The WF team again proved their status as road warriors by winning both games in lopsided fashion. In game one, WF was anchored both offensively and defensively by Jacklynn Calvert. Calvert was three for three at the dish, including a homerun, and struck out nine batters from the white circle in the 15-3 victory.
In game two, WF picked up right where it left off in game one. Sarah Aldridge tossed three innings of no-hit softball and also hit a double and a homer from the plate. Sam Finn also homered and Sydney Chamness added a double. WF moved to 4-0 record on the season with doubleheader sweep of Carterville.
