Redbird golf wins first match of year

The FCHS Boys’ Golf team garnered its first victory of the season, defeating the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats 187-192 Wednesday afternoon at Franklin County Country Club.

FCHS senior Brad Bozic and sophomore teammate Trenton Easley each shot a 44 to share meet medalist honors.

“Bozic is playing better,” said Karoski.  “He’s starting to step up, which is what you expect from your seniors.

“Trenton Easley has been putting some good matches together lately as well.  So, things are looking up. We are continuing to improve.”

Juniors Kyle Avripas and Ben Bishop also pitched in on the Redbird win with scores of 48 and 51, respectively.

Karoski’s linksters also competed last in the Anna-Jonesboro McDonald’s Team Challenge last Saturday, finishing 12th out of 17 total team with team score of 377 over 18 holes.

Bozic shot an 83 to lead the Redbirds.  Easley followed with a 95.  Avripas and Bishop shot 99 and 100, respectively.

The boys’ golf team is off until Wednesday, Sept. 1, when they travel to Jackson County Country Club for a triangular meet against Benton and Murphysboro.
