The CJHS Jr. Lady Redbird Softball team competed in the Johnston City Invitational over the weekend, defeating the host team to take home third place.
After falling to Carmi-White County 5-1 in the tourney opener, CJHS Head Coach Holly Lewis' bunch rebounded with a strong offensive performance against Johnston City to win 11-1 and take home the third place trophy.
Kiarha Wilce was the winning pitcher for the Jr. Lady Redbirds.
Mackenzie Campbell and Terrilynn Summers were the top hitters for CJHS, each going 2-4 at the dish and adding an RBI. Wilce was 2-5 with a triple and an RBI.
Also hitting in the winning effort: Jacklynn Calvert, Sarah Aldridge, Ciara Murphy and Hannah Cunningham.
The win improves the CJHS record to 7-2 on the season. The team will be back in action Monday at 4:30 p.m. at home against Eldorado.
