The FCHS varsity wrestling squad was turned away Thursday night by a tough rival Ranger club, falling 51-27 on the road.

"Right now Benton is the toughest team in southern Illinois and they are probably in the top 10 of the entire state in Class A wrestling," said Redbird head coach Rick Arrington.

"I saw plenty of good things from every kid we had wrestling tonight and some big improvements  have been made since our loss to them earlier this year.  I'd say we are headed in the right direction and right now we just need to focus on peaking at the right time of the season."
