The CJHS Jr. Lady Redbirds softball team used solid pitching and a stingy defense to hold off Herrin until the offense came alive in the fourth inning, propelling West Frankfort to its ninth win of the season.

“We played fundamentally sound softball today,” said CJHS Head Coach Holly Lewis.  “We were ready for anything on the base paths and strung hits together to move runners.  It was the best game we’ve played as a team.”
Ciara Murphy was the Redbirds top hitter on the day, going a perfect 3-3 at the dish.  Mackenzie Campbell, Kiarha Wilce and Jacklynn Calvert each pitched in with a hit apiece.

Wilce also earned the win on the mound.

The Jr. Lady Redbirds take the field again Thursday at home against Benton at 4:30 p.m.
