When the West Frankfort City Council convenes for its first regularly scheduled March meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m., it is doubtful that the council's chief executive will be in attendance as he continues to recover from surgery that took place late last month.

West Frankfort Mayor Marion Presley told the Daily American that he is rebounding well from the surgery and is "feeling better all the time."  He recently returned from the hospital in St. Louis and is currently resting at home.  His Honor said that it is unlikely that he would be able to return to his post at city hall in time for Tuesday night's meeting.

Finance Commissioner Chris McPhail will again conduct business as the Mayor Pro-Tem, the city's acting chief officer in Presley's absence.

City fathers will seek a resolution in support of a Single Family Owner Occupied Rehabilitation (SFOOR) grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA).  City Clerk Ruth Ann Pollack indicated that it is standard practice for the city to renew the program in order to make necessary essential upgrades to a low-income residence in the community.

In addition to paying the city's monthly bills, the council will also seek approval to pay various firms for services rendered pertaining to the ongoing Route 37 Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project.
