The Relay For Life of Franklin County planning committee is pleased to say the Kickoff Celebration was a huge success and is anticipating the 2010 Relay For Life of Franklin County event to be the best yet.
“This year we have set our goal high to raise $72,000,” one organizer told the newspaper. “The committee is positive, so the goal should not be difficult to achieve, especially after the amazing turnout of 65 guests at Kickoff Celebration held last Tuesday night at the West Frankfort Aquatic Center. “
Event Chair, Sandy Davis had many positive comments about Tuesday night's event.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of our Relay For Life Kickoff Celebration last week. Our overall theme ‘We are Family’ clearly lived up to its name, as committee members worked closely together to set the stage for success and followed through by ‘picking one another up’ for ‘Team Franklin.’ I'm still fielding congratulatory calls from folks that were in attendance last week.
“I'm also excited to share that our Team Meetings will gear up Tuesday, February 16th, 7:00 p.m. at the West Frankfort Aquatic Center. Further details of the upcoming Team Meetings and information about our annual Honorary Survivor and Caregiver of the Year nominations will be released in the near future".
“At ‘Kickoff’ we were very fortunate to have guest speaker SIU exercise physiology professor Phil Anton. He is known for starting the Strong Survivors program four years ago to help cancer patients to achieve a better quality of life through exercise and nutrition.”
The 2010 Relay For Life of Franklin County has been scheduled for Friday June 25th at 6:00 p.m. thru Saturday, June 26th, 6:00 a.m. at the Frankfort Community Park in West Frankfort.
